Friends of Lotan

Mission :

American Friends of Lotan is a not-for-profit organization which provides programs, events, and fundraising activities in support of Kibbutz Lotan and its Center for Creative Ecology as educational leaders in the promotion of ecological awareness, Reform Zionism, community and Jewish identity in Israel .

Goals:

To raise funds in support of Kibbutz Lotan, its educational work and expansion.
To raise awareness within the Jewish and general community of Kibbutz Lotan and its eco-Zionist work
To encourage and assist individuals and groups wishing to visit Lotan for short and long periods, in organized programs and independently
To promote educational, cultural and fundraising events in accordance with Lotan’s Reform eco-Zionist vision.
To build membership in Friends of Lotan among individuals and businesses

Kibbutz Lotan and The Center for Creative Ecology:

Kibbutz Lotan, situated in the Arava Desert in Southern Israel , is a community based on a modern liberal approach to Judaism that strives to fulfill values of equality between the sexes, equality in work, genuine communication between people and a commitment to environmental concerns and ecology as an expression of Lotan’s Progressive Jewish and Zionist orientation.

The Center for Creative Ecology’s work is rooted in “Tikun Olam”-the Jewish concept for repairing and transforming the world. The Center started as a dream and vision. It began with a small desert organic garden, expanded to include a migratory bird reserve and nature trails, and continued to extensive alternative building projects.

Kibbutz Lotan and the Center for Creative Ecology sponsor educational groups for short visits, workshops and longer-term, in-depth educational programming.
