3 February 2009 Dear Green Friend: We are pleased to let you know that your organization has been chosen from over 100 entries to be featured in our special section Eco Jews: Trends and Triumphs in Jewish Environmentalism. Judges from Hazon, COEJL and the Isabella Freedman Jewish retreat center found it difficult to select only 10, but we all felt your efforts rose above the rest in terms of impact and their connection to Jewish traditions and communal life. For first place, the judges wanted to honor both a larger organization and a smaller one, so the $360 prize will be split between UJA-Federation of New York and the Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation in Evanston, IL. The response to the contest was so great and the entries so impressive, we are certain to make this an annual feature on JTA.org. The awards page is here.
