The Center for Creative Ecology and the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies present:

ARAVA - The Jewish Environmental Experience on Kibbutz Lotan

A unique accredited study and work experience located in Israel’s Southern Arava Desert focusing on the ethical, physical and social components of sustainable development from a liberal Jewish perspective. The program is conducted in English.

  • Volunteer in Israeli society

  • Experience Israeli culture
  • Learn sustainable development skills
  • Acquire hands-on ecological experience

Program of study:

  • Green Apprenticeship – twelve weeks of hands-on, practical lessons in alternative building techniques, environmental design, sustainable community and organic gardening. Graduates will receive an internationally recognized Permaculture Design Certificate. The Green Apprenticeship takes place within the framework of a Reform intentional community striving for sustainability.
  • Course in Judaism and the environment
  • Hebrew language studies
