Frank Kanto, his work, his worldSo who is Frank Kanto? Is he an artist, a boilmaker, a blacksmith, a Jack-of-all-trades? A bit of all these I guess. Above all however, Frank is a creative ecologist and a recycler 'par excellence'. His work on the walls of Kibbutz Lotan's dining room is a fine example of what can be done with broken plates, old utensils, pieces of ceramic and broken glass. He's also a no-nonsense, straightforward speaking chap with a golden heart, and a very good friend of mine.
Here we proudly present a first batch of Frank's work, featuring outdoor sculptures of birds (unidentified and no latin name attached). Though made from scrap metal, they all seem to possess and air of lightness about them, as if they were ready to take off. Frank's rich collection of artistic endeavours dominate many of the Kibbutz' scenes. Don't miss a tour of his artistic trail next time you visit Lotan. In the meantime, enjoy the virtual tour as a prelude. Asher Ariel Contact Lotan Center for Creative EcologyMark Naveh |
