Eco-Update November 2002November has been a busy month with lots of vegetables and lots of mud. The “Gan Bayit” our home organic garden is thriving. We ate hundreds of ears of sweet corn, green onion, mixed lettuce and greens. The eggplants are getting bigger, and the herbs are making their way to the kitchen: dill, cilantro, parsley, basil, and spearmint. Last spring we did experiments with tying the tomatoes up like a climber and now all the tomatoes have been grown like that. Leah’s big project in November has been to develop a more efficient way to use the compost tea via the irrigation system. This Month we said goodbye and thanked Doron & Randy for all the hard work in the garden, they've moved to Jerusalem. On the mud front we have been improving the educational compost area. HOORAY! The foundation for the straw bale recycling activity building is completed. The green apprenticeship group have been hard at work all hours of the day & night designing & making the most beautiful composting toilet in the Middle East, if not the world, so come see it soon. IMPORTANT! We've been blessed this time with a large collection of fresh pictures depicting progress in various projects. We recommend that you use the navigation bar below to navigate to the relevant collections ENJOY! Till next month, bye Mike Kaplin
