Education and promotion of environmental values to the public at large with an emphasis on the young generation;

Support of eco research through our Center;

Environmentally sensible programming of workshops, seminar and eco experiences;

From Mission to Reality

Lotan Center for Creative Ecology is one of the most active environmental organization in Israel. The Center was founded in 1986 by a handful of farsighted bird enthusiasts.

Lotan Center of Creative Ecology was the brains, driving force and workhorse behind the creation of Lotan Bird reserve. Dedication and hard work by Lotan members and volunteers have turned this barren desert habitat into a haven for birds and other wildlife. The well-managed habitat of the reserve has since attracted hundreds of thousands of migrant and resident. We are presently getting the Center in the right shape to take school visits—an increasing number of groups has actually visited Lotan Center for Creative Ecology this year. We are planning to receive thousands of school children every year, who will visit the Center for Creative Ecology with their teachers to observe nature at close quarters and to learn to respect wildlife.

Among other things, we keep watch over activity that threatens wild life, eg bird migration, foremost among which is habitat destruction. The Center for Creative Ecology organizes various activities for its young visitors, ranging from conservation work and Birdwatching hikes, to craft evenings, quizzes and parties.

Kibbutz Lotan Center of Creative Ecology supports Wildlife research in Southern Israel through its ringing station, in operation since March 2000. Lotan ringing Station publishes reports, short notes, systematic lists and other ornithological material.

Lotan Center for Creative Ecology publishes a great deal of material in order to get its environmental message across to the various audiences. The Center frequently teams up with other environmental or scientific institutions, both local and international, to work on joint projects and campaigns.
