Massage/Touch Therapy with Hiddai Levi

INTERACT

Everyone has the ability and knowledge of touch. We have the ability to bring comfort and relaxation to people through touch. By developing a growing awareness of our own body, through breathing and movement, we become aware of our partner's body's breathing and movement, and can begin practicing touch awareness. My workshops awaken these natural talents and make the process of touching acceptable by learning how to share touch with a lover, family or friends.

Most people have five basic senses. Yet, do they understand how sophisticated and exciting are these senses? From the moment of birth, the body is filled with curiosity and ready to seek out new experiences, cultivating these senses. We expect to experience these sensations; it's instinctive. When we are born we have an expectation of oxygen to use in our lungs. We expect there to be light so we can use our eyes. We also have an expectation and need for touch.

Most of our senses have a more moderate response to stimuli. With our eyes, we either see or not, with our ears we hear or we hear not. Conversely, skin has so many different sensors for experiencing the world. The skin is the largest organ in our body and the largest sensory organ we have. We have 1.5 square meters of skin that weighs only a few kilos. There are hundreds of meters of blood vessels and nerves, along with a full spectrum of diverse and amazing tactile receptors. We can sense hot and cold, vibrations, pressure, tickles, pain, and movements.

Touching provides us with information along with a connection between the mind, body, and spirit. Through touch we receive a sense of relaxation and support whether this comes from massage, holding hands or hugging. Touching effects the emotions by connecting a tactile sensation with memories. Touch also effects the body physically. Touching with support and trust
stimulates the brain to release natural chemicals that relieve stress and pain within the body. It also redirects attention away from the head, towards our emotions. It reaches the touched points on our bodies, thereby reconnecting our body and mind.

Teaching touch involves instructing the participants to honor the process of touch. We experience how to open the door to our feelings and the feelings of our partners and how it feels to give and receive through the medium of touch. We learn how to use our hands to support the body and how to play with the movement of the arms and legs through touch.

Learning to touch is simple and easy to learn. It can be done by anyone, anywhere. It can also be great fun. Touching does involve permission. Not just permission to touch someone, but also the permission we give ourselves to play and have fun. Children are always touching each other, through play and relationships. Touching puts us in touch with our child-self, allowing us to rediscover play.
